Sen. Salazar's Statement on Release of the Environmental Impact Study Governing the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program

DENVER, CO -- “I am proud to have been a part of developing the Platte River Recovery Program since when I was Director of the Department of Natural Resources and as Colorado’s Attorney General. The recommendations of this EIS are the product of lengthy, cooperative negotiations with our neighbors, the States of Wyoming and Nebraska and the Department of Interior. These negotiations protect the water rights of Northern Colorado’s farmers and ranchers. In this trying time of drought, this agreement should have no effect on existing water users in Colorado’s South Platte Valley”.
