Sen. Salazar Announces October Farm Bill Listening Sessions in Greeley, Pueblo, Cortez & Craig

Denver, CO – United States Senator and Agriculture Committee member, Ken Salazar, announced another round of his Farm Bill listening sessions across Colorado. Senator Salazar will hold more listening sessions in advance of Senate work on the 2007 Farm Bill. The goal of the sessions is to listen to the needs of Colorado farmers, ranchers and rural communities to help address those needs when the Senate acts on the Farm Bill reauthorization.

Senator Salazar’s October Farm Bill listening sessions are already scheduled for Greeley, Pueblo, Cortez and Craig. Senator Salazar has already held six farm bill listening sessions across Colorado in the communities of Lamar, Alamosa, Burlington, Yuma, Sterling, Grand Junction and Adams County. Senator Salazar’s listening sessions are the first step in a process to gather information for the 2007 Farm Bill that will take several months. After the October sessions are complete Senator Salazar will have held eleven farm bill listening sessions across Colorado.

“We held extremely productive and informative listening sessions in August. Hundreds of farmers and ranchers gave us input that will help us get provisions in the 2007 reauthorization to bolster family farmers, ranchers and our rural communities,” said Senator Salazar. “I am holding these additional listening sessions to learn more from the farmers and ranchers so that I can continue to be a strong voice for rural Colorado as the Senate debates this important legislation.”
