| Sen. Salazar's Statement on Supreme Court's Decision to Uphold the Second Amendment, Gun Rights WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Senator Salazar issued the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision that the District of Columbia’s handgun ban is unconstitutional and that the Constitution protects an individual’s right to own a gun. “Today’s decision
reaffirms what the Founders intended when they wrote the Constitution
and what millions of Americans already know: the Second Amendment protects
the right of a law-abiding individual to own a gun. The District of
Columbia’s ban on all handgun possession went too far and was rightly
declared unconstitutional.” ###
