| On January 31, 2007,
the Department of Agriculture released its vision for the next Farm
Bill. I know that the people who will best understand the impacts
of this proposal are the farmers, ranchers and rural Coloradans
who are directly affected by it every day.
Below you’ll
find a summary of their proposal, a link to the USDA’s more
detailed explanation of its proposal, and other information.
Please take
a few minutes to review the Administration’s proposal, and
then complete the online form below to provide me with your thoughts
and feedback. |

Overview of Administration's proposals
- The Administration is proposing sweeping
changes to Title I, the Commodity programs – the programs that
are the safety-net to our family farmers.
- In addition, the Administration is proposing
to include about $1.6 billion in the Energy Title to boost renewable
energy – examples include biomass research and development and
a bio-energy program for cellulosic ethanol.
- The Administration is also looking at
consolidating several conservation programs and increasing funding for
some of those programs.
- The Administration is considering consolidation
of the rural development programs and spending funds to reduce the backlog
